Bourbon Balls
This is another holiday staple at Grandma Era’s house. These are way easier than I thought they would be to make. No baking necessary. The vanilla wafers and walnuts can be chopped in a food processor, by hand or with a rolling pin while in a ziplock bag. These would be the perfect holiday gift for the bourbon lover in your life!
Ingredients (Makes about 30):
2 Tbs cocoa powder, sifted
1 cup powdered sugar, sifted + ~1/3 cup for dredging
1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
3 Tbs light corn syrup
2 cups crushed vanilla wafers
1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
Mix sifted cocoa powder and powdered sugar in a large bowl.
Add whiskey, corn syrup and vanilla wafers to the bowl. Mix with spatula or by hand.
Add walnuts. Mix well.
Shape into small balls using a small scooper (#60) or a small spoon. It’s okay if they are not perfect, they are easier to shape at the end.
Dredge each ball in powdered sugar. Fix the shape as needed.
Store in air tight container.
