Bourbon Balls

This is another holiday staple at Grandma Era’s house. These are way easier than I thought they would be to make. No baking necessary. The vanilla wafers and walnuts can be chopped in a food processor, by hand or with a rolling pin while in a ziplock bag. These would be the perfect holiday gift for the bourbon lover in your life!

Ingredients (Makes about 30):

  • 2 Tbs cocoa powder, sifted

  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted + ~1/3 cup for dredging

  • 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey

  • 3 Tbs light corn syrup

  • 2 cups crushed vanilla wafers

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:

  • Mix sifted cocoa powder and powdered sugar in a large bowl.

  • Add whiskey, corn syrup and vanilla wafers to the bowl. Mix with spatula or by hand.

  • Add walnuts. Mix well.

  • Shape into small balls using a small scooper (#60) or a small spoon. It’s okay if they are not perfect, they are easier to shape at the end.

  • Dredge each ball in powdered sugar. Fix the shape as needed.

  • Store in air tight container.
